I am writing to offer my enthusiastic support for Dr. Amanda Ritvo’s candidacy for the Marblehead Board of Health. I have had the privilege of working alongside Amanda for the past 14 years, caring for patients together as family physicians. Over that time, I have witnessed her clinical excellence, sound judgment, and deep commitment to preventive care and public health.

With recent cuts to vital federal health programs, it is becoming evident that local Health Departments and Boards of Health will be called upon for dependable guidance—especially when it comes to mental health services and emergency preparedness.

In today’s world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by conflicting health information. As a physician and public health advocate, I believe it’s critical to rely on evidence-based decisions that keep our community safe and informed.

As a parent, I am deeply concerned about the impact of early smartphone use on children’s development. Studies show that excessive screen time can have significant detrimental impacts on mental health, attention spans, and social skills.

As a physician, I understand how our environment impacts our health. Pollution, waste, and climate change aren’t just issues for the future—they’re affecting us now. That’s why one of my top priorities is to promote environmental health in Marblehead.

Public health challenges are complex, and they require thoughtful, compassionate leadership. As a family physician, I’ve spent years listening to my patients, understanding their concerns, and finding solutions that work for them. I want to bring that same empathetic, collaborative approach to the Marblehead Board of Health.
