Letter of Support: Lisa Ceplikas, M.D.
Dear Neighbors,
I am writing to offer my enthusiastic support for Dr. Amanda Ritvo’s candidacy for the Marblehead Board of Health. I have had the privilege of working alongside Amanda for the past 14 years, caring for patients together as family physicians. Over that time, I have witnessed her clinical excellence, sound judgment, and deep commitment to preventive care and public health.
Amanda is the kind of physician and leader who listens closely, acts thoughtfully, and always puts the well-being of others first. Her patients trust her not only because of her medical expertise but because of the empathy and respect she brings to each interaction. These qualities make her exceptionally well suited for public service.
I also admire Amanda’s leadership on emerging health issues affecting our youth, including her support for the Wait Until 8th campaign, which encourages families to delay smartphone use until at least 8th grade. As physicians and as parents, we’ve both seen the toll excessive screen time can take on mental health, sleep, and social development. Amanda is willing to tackle difficult issues with compassion—and with evidence-based decision-making guiding her every step.
Equally important is her recognition of the loneliness epidemic affecting older adults. Amanda is committed to increasing programming for our seniors—creating more opportunities for connection, wellness, and community engagement. She understands that social isolation is a serious public health issue and is ready to work proactively to support our aging population.
Marblehead would be lucky to have Dr. Amanda Ritvo serving on the Board of Health. I have every confidence that she will bring the same integrity, intelligence, and advocacy to this role that she has brought to our medical community for over a decade.
Sincerely,
Lisa Ceplikas, M.D.
