Environmental Health in Marblehead: A Vision for a Greener, Healthier Community
As a physician, I understand how our environment impacts our health. Pollution, waste, and climate change aren’t just issues for the future—they’re affecting us now.
That’s why one of my top priorities is to promote environmental health in Marblehead. I’m committed to initiatives like universal curbside composting to reduce landfill waste, cut municipal costs, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Fortunately, there is strong support for this type of initiative, including grants that can help fund curbside composting programs. In 2023 Massachusetts communities were awarded $5.2 million for recycling, composting, and waste reduction programs—and nearby Nahant received funding for a curbside food waste collection pilot program. As your representative on the Board of Health, I will advocate for Marblehead to tap into these resources, making it easier for residents to reduce waste and contribute to a cleaner, greener town.
But environmental health goes beyond waste management. Clean air, safe drinking water, and natural spaces are essential for physical and mental well-being. If elected, I’ll work to implement policies that address these concerns, ensuring our environment supports our health now and in the future. By making sustainability a priority, we can create a healthier Marblehead for everyone.
